1. My permanent address has changed. How do I make notice of such a change?

You must provide notice of such a change in permanent address in person at any Fio banka branch. A change in permanent address also means a replacement identification card and a change in the number of this card. Once you receive a new identification card, you must inform any Fio banka branch of such a fact and sign an addendum covering changes in your personal data.

2. I want to make a change to my correspondence address. How do I make notice of such a change?

You must provide notice of such a change in your correspondence address in person at any Fio banka branch. Such a change is applied immediately after signing an addendum covering changes in your personal data.

3. I want to open a savings account for a child who is not yet 2 years old. Can I do so?

Any account according to the tariff for the currently selected account can be opened for a minor. The account contract is concluded for the minor in the name of his or her legal representative whereby all legal actions (conclusion, change and termination of the contractual relationship, placing orders, etc.) are completed by the legal representative in the name of the minor as accompanied by his or her signature.

Minors can be provided with access to Internet banking without the ability to authorize orders (read-only access). Account funds can be disposed of by the minor is allowed only by the legal representative and must be performed in person at a Fio banka branch (the minor cannot in any way dispose of such funds online). Minors cannot make cash withdrawals at branches.

Minors can request a payment card wherein the application for a payment card is signed by the legal representative (as the account holder) and the minor affixes his or her signature as the signature sample. Every payment card application for a minor will be assessed individually, and the minimum age limit for such an application is 8 years.

4. How are Fio banka deposits insured?

Deposits are insured pursuant to Act No. 21/1992 Coll. Insurance is always connected to a birth number (as an account is connected to a single birth number). Currently, such insurance covers 100% of deposits up to a maximum of €100,000.

5. How to set up Fio Banking Identity (Bank iD)?

Currently, we have activated the Fio Banking Identity for all those who have not refused the service or who were not prevented from setting it up by other factors (e.g. the Fio Banking Identity for foreigners is discussed in question 6). You can check the status of your Banking Identity (Bank iD) in Internetbanking in Settings (in the top right corner) in the Banking Identity section.

The main condition for activating the service is that we have met at least once in person at one of our branches or with our courier and you have a current ID. Otherwise, you need to stop by our office first.

6. Foreigners and Banking Identity

Of course, foreigners or refugees can also use the banking identity. If you do not have the service activated, please contact us via Fio Service and we will look into it.

To activate, we will need a valid ID, which you can send us via your Internetbanking if necessary. So-called non-electronically readable zone documents (also known as paper documents) can also be used.

7. How does Banking Identity actually work?

With Banking Identity, you can log in to the services of the state and private entities, enter into new contracts with them, use their services, etc. All this without visiting their branches or offices. Wherever you see the option to use the Banking Identity (Bank iD), you choose this option through Fio banka and further log in with your details as you use with us. You will then be authenticated via SMS or push notifications via Smartbanking.

8. What can I use Bank iD for?

The Fio Bank Identity currently allows access to various government services, for example on the Citizen's Portal. A list of the most commonly used ones is here. It can also be used to access the services of private entities - energy providers, insurance companies, etc. You can find the companies currently involved here.

9. Is Banking Identity secure?

Security is our priority with your finances, which is why Banking Identity uses the same security as our Internetbanking or Smartbanking. The handling of your personal data is equally secure. By law, we cannot handle your personal information without your consent.

10. I am not interested in your Banking Identity

Of course, we respect that. You can turn off the service directly in Internetbanking. If you don't have it activated yet and you know you don't want to activate the service at all, write to Fio Service and we won't activate it for you. If you change your mind, activation is only possible at a branch.

11. Can I have multiple Banking Identities?

Each banking identity provider offers its own standalone solution to clients. If a customer has services with multiple banking houses, they can also have multiple separate banking identities (and can choose when using them).

12. Will I, as an individual, be given a state Data Box together with my banking identity?

You won´t. As of 1 January 2023, the range of legal entities for which a data box has been established by law has been expanded - these are mainly interest associations, associations of unit owners (SVJ), foundations or public benefit corporations. Data boxes were also newly established for natural persons - entrepreneurs. The original draft law also included the automatic establishment of a Data Box for individuals who log in to any state office using their banking identity. However, this intention was cancelled by a government amendment to the law approved by the Chamber of Deputies.

If you have not found an answer to your question, do not hesitate to contact your branch of us directly using the online form.
